Waterbury, Conn. -
Alexander Zecca scored his first goal of the season in the 90th minute, but the Post University men's soccer team lost a 2-1 non-conference match to Franklin Pierce on Tuesday afternoon at LaMoy Field.
On a throw in, Zecca muscled away the ball from two defenders, made a nifty move past Franklin Pierce goalkeeper Kosta Maniatis who came out of the net and scored with 19 seconds remaining to make it a one score game.Â
The Ravens scored in the eighth minute off of a corner kick on a header from Marco Valero from Carlos Ferrando Felis in the eighth minute. Jonas Cervera Anchel scored the second goal for the Ravens in the 59th minute.
Tuesday's matchup was the first time the two teams saw each other since the 2019 NCAA Sweet 16.
Sergio Sanchez led the Eagles with two shots.
Soren Jensen stopped four shots in net.
"It was a great match tonight to be apart of at LaMoy and I am proud of my guys for the performance and our opening matches. We have outplayed many teams and will continue to improve," Post head coach
Ted Haley said.
Up next, the Eagles (0-3-1) open up its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with a home matchup against Dominican on September 21 at 3 p.m.
