Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University softball team split a doubleheader on Saturday, defeating the Tigers in game one, 11-3 before falling in game two, 9-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup.
In game one, Allyson Wallauer and Courtney Brobst both drove in three runs as the Eagles jumped out to an early 6-0 lead on their way to the win.
The Eagles scored two in the first, the second on a sacrifice fly from Wallauer that scored Demi Rivera, who singled with no outs in the inning.
Post (15-9, 15-9 CACC) scored four more in the third, including two on a single from Rivera that made it a 4-0 game. A bases loaded walk by Brobst and a wild pitch made it a 6-0 game at the end of the inning.
Holy Family scored one in the fourth and two in the fifth on a home run from Elaina Hansen to cut the Eagles lead in half at 6-3, but the Eagles answered in the bottom of the inning with a two-run single from Brobst and a sacrifice fly from Alexa Pacy to make it a 9-3 game.
Wallauer would end the game in the bottom of the sixth via the mercy rule as she hit a two-run double to left to score Kasey Jusino and Rivera.
Rivera finished the game 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Jusino scored three runs and walked three times.
