West Caldwell, N.J. – Dylan Heald scored three goals for the Post University men's lacrosse team, but the Eagles dropped their opener, 10-5 to Caldwell on Wednesday afternoon.
Heald scored his first goal at the eight-minute mark of the first quarter to tie the game after the Eagles fell behind 1-0 early on as Mark Colella assisted on the play.
Heald scored two more in the second quarter to give the Eagles a 3-2 lead which they held from the 6:58 mark to the 3:06 mark when the Cougars tied it up. Caldwell tacked on one more to take a 4-3 lead at halftime.
After the Cougars opened up the second half with a goal at 14:22, Nick Meier responded immediately at the 13:28 mark of the third to again cut the deficit to 5-4.
However, Caldwell scored four straight to take a 9-4 lead heading into the fourth. Jake Bova tacked on one more goal in the fourth for the Eagles.
Caldwell had four players score two goals apiece.
The Eagles will go on the road Saturday to take on Wilmington at 1 p.m. in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tilt.
