Waterbury, Conn. – Rian Balbino drove in three runs and Harry Allegra hit his first home run of the season, but the Post University baseball team dropped a 17-8 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to Bloomfield on Tuesday evening at Municipal Stadium.
With the loss, the Eagles fall to 0-2 on the season.
Bloomfield jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning. With two outs in the bottom of the first, Allegra cut the Eagles deficit to 3-1 with a solo homer to right off of Raymon Sarza. After the Eagles loaded the bases without a hit, a walk from Zachary Ruth made it a 3-2 game.
With the Eagles down 9-2 after the top of the third, Balbino and Devon Ogston hit RBI singles in the bottom of the inning to make it a 9-4 game.
Down 13-4, Balbino added another RBI single in the sixth and an RBI double in the eighth on the heels of an RBI triple from Shane Lindemuth, making it a 13-8 game after the eighth inning.
Bloomfield (2-2) added three more runs in the ninth to close out the game.
Allegra finished the game 3-for-5 scoring three runs and to go along with an RBI. Balbino was 3-for-4 with three RBI. Lindemuth was 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.
The Eagles pitching staff struck out nine batters on the day.
Tyree Bradley led the way for the Bears, going 4-for-6 with six RBI and a run. He also hit a homerun in the first inning. Javell Barnes scored five runs for Bloomfield.
Up next, the Eagles host Wilmington in a CACC doubleheader. Both games will be seven innings.
Ogston Honored
Devon Ogston was named to the CACC Honor Roll for his performance last weekend in a loss to Felician. Ogston went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run.
