Allegra And Balbino Lead Offensive Charge, But Eagles Baseball Falls To Bloomfield

Waterbury, Conn. – Rian Balbino drove in three runs and Harry Allegra hit his first home run of the season, but the Post University baseball team dropped a 17-8 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to Bloomfield on Tuesday evening at Municipal Stadium.

With the loss, the Eagles fall to 0-2 on the season.

Bloomfield jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning.  With two outs in the bottom of the first, Allegra cut the Eagles deficit to 3-1 with a solo homer to right off of Raymon Sarza. After the Eagles loaded the bases without a hit, a walk from Zachary Ruth made it a 3-2 game.

With the Eagles down 9-2 after the top of the third, Balbino and Devon Ogston hit RBI singles in the bottom of the inning to make it a 9-4 game.

Down 13-4, Balbino added another RBI single in the sixth and an RBI double in the eighth on the heels of an RBI triple from Shane Lindemuth, making it a 13-8 game after the eighth inning.

Bloomfield (2-2) added three more runs in the ninth to close out the game.
