Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University baseball team dropped a pair of games to Wilmington on Saturday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader, 6-2, 6-2 at Municipal Stadium.
Post took two leads in game one, the first on a groundball by Shane Lindemuth that scored Harry Allegra, who led off the inning with a triple.
Wilmington would tie it in the top of the third, but Brycin Hernandez tripled to score Rian Balbino in the bottom of the inning to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.
Wilmington tied it on a single from Quintin Ivy in the fifth and would take the lead for good in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI double in the seventh. The Wildcats would go on to score three more runs in the inning.
Jacob Tamburrino pitched six solid innings for the Eagles, giving up just two earned runs on seven hits and two walks.
In game two, after Wilmington took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Shane Lindemuth hit an RBI single to score Devon Ogston who led off the inning with a double to right.
Wilmington took a 2-1 lead in the third and scored four more in the top of the fifth, three on a home run from Dom Fiorentino.
The Eagles tacked on one more run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Allegra that scored Ogston, who doubled.
Ogston finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. Lindemuth was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Up next, the Eagles go on the road to face Bloomfield in a CACC doubleheader beginning at noon on April 12.
