Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University softball team took on Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) leader Georgian Court on Friday afternoon, but dropped two games, 3-2 and 10-2 (6).
In game one, the Eagles took an early lead as Courtney Brobst singled to drive home Allyson Wallauer in the bottom of the second.
The Lions answered with a two run homer in the top of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead, and the Eagles answered right back with an RBI single from Kasey Jusino in the bottom of the inning to tie the game.
However, Kiara Meikle hit an RBI single in the top of the sixth to give the Lions the 3-2 lead, one they would hold on the rest of the way for the win.
Bridget Betley pitched a complete game for the Eagles.
In game two, the Lions jumped out to a 6-0 lead after scoring four in the third and two in the fifth.
The Eagles attempted a rally in the bottom of the fifth as Demi Rivera drove in Samantha Riccardulli on an RBI double and Caitlin DeAngelis hit a sacrifice fly to score Cassidy Petrie.
The Lions (28-4, 21-1 CACC) would score four more in the top of the sixth to put the game away.
Rivera finished the day 2-for-3 with an RBI. Brobst went 2-for-3.
The Eagles now sit at 14-8 on the season and are in fifth place in the CACC. They will take on Holy Family on Saturday, May 1 in a doubleheader at noon.
