Waterbury, Conn. – Carlos Chacua had a hat trick and the Post University men's lacrosse team held a lead throughout the first half, but fell to Caldwell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Thursday afternoon at LaMoy Field.
The Eagles led 3-2 after the first period as Chacua, Brendan Kelleher and Dylan Heald paced the Eagles with goals. Heald's goal was his 14th of the season, tying him for fifth in the CACC.
Post led by as much as three in the first half, when they took a 6-3 lead on a goal from Jake Bova. They'd go into the half leading 6-4.
The Eagles increased its lead to three again on a goal from Chacua, his third, to make it a 7-4 game with 9:04 left in the third.
However, it'd be the last goal the Eagles would score as the Cougars scored the final seven goals of the game, with five of them coming from Kevin Albright.
The hat trick from Chacua was the fourth game of his career scoring three goals or more in a game.
Peter Naboka added a goal and an assist for the Eagles on the day. Dante Cleare won 12 of his 22 faceoffs on the day.
Manuele D'Alessio finished with ten saves.
The Eagles will play their last home game on Tuesday as they host Dominican at 3 p.m. on April 27 at LaMoy Field.
