Bridgewater, Mass.– Jake Raleigh scored twice and the Post University Eagles men's hockey team defeated Stonehill, 4-2 in a Northeast-10 (NE10) match on Saturday evening.
The win moves the Eagles to 3-5-0 on the season and 3-2-0 in the NE10.
Post led 1-0 after the first period on a goal from John Krapian at the 12:02 mark as Patrick Murphy came down the ice, and found Krapian on the right slot for the one-timer to give the Eagles the lead.
Raleigh scored his first goal at the 3:34 mark of the second period as he took a rebound from Niko Grollman in front of the net and scored from his knees on a scramble for the puck to give Post the 2-0 lead. It was Raleigh's first goal of the season.
Just over four minutes later, Kieran Gardner scored his third goal of the season as Evan Lugo fed a pass from behind the net to Gardner who stuffed home the puck for the 3-0 lead.
Stonehill scored their first goal at the 9:39 mark as the Eagles went into the third period up 3-1.
In the third, a shot from Tommy Buis hit the crossbar and dropped down in front of Raleigh who put home the rebound to give the Eagles the three goal cushion at the 15:22 mark. It was the third two-goal game in Raleigh's career.
Stonehill would tack on one more goal in the third.
In net, Brandon Brown stopped 33 shots. The Eagles had 22 shots on goal, with Nick Brewer leading the way with four.
