Big Second Period Helps Post Men’s Hockey Win Second Straight Over Rivier

Shelton, Conn. – The Post University men's hockey team scored three goals in the second period to help them defeat Rivier, 4-3 at The Rinks at Shelton on Friday evening.

It was the second straight win for the Eagles, who now sit at 4-5 overall.

Post got on the board early as John Krapian picked up a loose puck, split the defense and backhanded in a goal at the 1:04 mark in the first period to give the Eagles their first lead of the game.

Rivier responded with two goals of their own to take a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period.

It didn't take too long in the second period for the Eagles to tie the game back up as Tommy Buis got on a breakaway, deked the goaltender and found an open net for his first career goal.

Just over one minute later, Nolan Arbuckle ripped a slapshot from just in front of the blue line on a pass from Jack Endgahl from behind the net to give the Eagles the lead at the 7:22 mark.

Engdhal would give the Eagles a much needed insurance goal at the 13:03 mark as Kieran Gardner made a slick back handed pass from behind the net to Engdahl who was right in front of the net and ripped home his second goal of the season.

Rivier tacked on one more goal at the 1:11 mark of the third to make it a one goal game.

Drew Blodgett made his first start in net and earned his first win with 24 saves.

Up next, the Eagles will play in the Codfish Bowl at UMass Boston on December 29 at 4 p.m. against Franklin Pierce.
