Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University volleyball team won a 3-1 match over Caldwell University Monday night in a Central Athletic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest.
THE RUNDOWN:
- Madelynn Boop led the Eagles with 30 kills on the night, followed by nine by Aniya Goodman and eight from Lydimar Soto. Soto and Elizabeth McGrath each finished with three aces.
- Nelly Diaz had 25 digs on the night, while Kaitlyn Lemmon led the team with two blocks.
- The Cougars were led by 15 kills from Reese Sherwood and 21 digs from Humiko Stormer.
- Post opened the contest with a kill from Boop and lead by as much as six (13-7) early on in the set. With the Eagles up 23-17, Caldwell scored the next five points to close the gap to a point. But back-to-back kills from Goodman and Boop sealed the first set win.
- The Eagles led 20-14 in set two and were looking to take the set early, but the Cougars scored six straight points to tie the set at 20-20. After back-to-back errors by the Cougars, the Eagles were able to take the lead back, 22-20. Boop scored the final two points for the Eagles on kills.
- Post looked poised to take the match in the third set, but Caldwell battled back tying the contest at 23-23, before taking the final two points.
- The fourth set was all Post who responded with a 25-12 win. After opening up the set on an 11-2 run. Boop had seven kills during the set as the Eagles were never threatened in the final frame.
- The win was the second over Caldwell this season.
