Game Recap: #21 Men's Soccer |

With Two Second Half Goals, Post Men’s Soccer Team Defeats Jefferson To Advance To CACC Semifinals

Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University men's soccer team won its eighth straight game, advancing to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) semifinals with a 2-0 quarterfinal win over Jefferson on Monday afternoon at LaMoy Field.
With the win, the Eagles (10-5-1, 9-2 CACC) advance to Friday's semifinals where they will take on No. 5 Holy Family at 10 a.m. at LaMoy Field.

After a very defensive first half, the Eagles broke through in the 63rd minute as Alvaro Sanchez put a volley into the back of the net off a corner kick by Sergio Diaz to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead.

It was the 11th goal of the season for Sanchez who has now scored five goals in his last three games.

Post found more opportunities to score during the second half and scored their second goal on a cross from Diaz to Carles Aliberch, who put home his first of the season to give the Eagles the commanding lead.

Diaz, who leads the CACC with 18 assists, has had an assist in 11 of his last 12 games.

David Mollenthiel also won his eighth straight game in net with one save on the day.

The eight-game winning streak for the Eagles ties the longest winning streak in program history. They also won eight straight in 2013.
