Post Men’s Soccer Clinches CACC Regular Season Title With Seventh Straight Win Over Felician

Lyndhurst, N.J. – Behind two goals from Alvaro Sanchez, the Post University men's soccer team clinched the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season title with a 4-0 win over Felician on Thursday afternoon.
The regular season title is the fourth for the Eagles and first since 2013 when they won their third consecutive title from 2011-2013. The win was also the seventh straight for the Eagles.

Post started the scoring early as Antoine Trifonov taking a rebound from a shot from Sergio Sanchez and put it home past Felician goalkeeper, George Hernandez to give Post the 1-0 lead.

In the 33rd minute, Alvaro Sanchez put home his first goal of the game on a penalty kick. It was his ninth goal of the season to give the Eagles a two-goal lead going into the half.

Sanchez scored his tenth goal of the season at the 69th minute as Pablo Tenorio found Sergio Sanchez who passed it to Alvaro Sanchez who scored to put the Eagles up, 3-0. It was the second straight game that Alvaro Sanchez Scored two goals in a game.

The Eagles tacked on one more goal in the 72nd minute as Ygor Silva hit Tenorio, who crossed to Giorgio Scarpecci, who scored his second goal of the season for the final tally of the game.

David Mollenthiel had one save on the day for the Eagles and won his seventh straight game in net. He is now 7-0-0 on the season.

"I am very proud of our boys for being so resilient over the course of some difficult times," head men's soccer coach Ted Haley said. "We played a difficult schedule early and performed fairly well, but we were naive in some capacities and needed to figure out who we are. I think we have grown and we have proven we can compete with the best teams in the region. I can't wait to prove it."

The Eagles, seeded first in the CACC tournament will host No. 8 Jefferson at home at 1 p.m. at LaMoy Field on November 8.
