Men’s Basketball Rally Falls Short In Loss To Stonehill

Waterbury, Conn. -  The Post University men's basketball team nearly came back from a 23-point deficit, but fell to Stonehill, 65-59 on Saturday afternoon at the Drubner Center.

David Jasson led the way for the Eagles with 23 points, Devonte McCall scored 11 and Isaiah Holmes had ten.

The Eagles (2-4) started their comeback after falling behind 36-13 at the 3:14 mark in the first half by scoring the final four points of the half to cut their deficit to 19 points.

After allowing the first two points to the Skyhawks in the second half, the Eagles scored the next ten points, including two threes from Jasson to make it a 38-27 Stonehill lead.

Stonehill increased its lead back up to 15 points at 44-29 at the 11:12 mark before the Eagles rattled off a 19-6 run over the next six and half minutes, capped by a floater in the lane from Holmes, who was fouled and made the free throws to make it a 50-48 game.

It would be the closest the Eagles got the rest of the way as the Skyhawks would increase its lead again to nine points down the stretch.

Jasson finished with four three-pointers for the Eagles.

Isaiah Burnett led the Skyhawks in scoring with 29 points to go along with six rebounds. He was 6-for-14 on threes.

Up next, the Eagles host American International College at 7 p.m. on December 1.
