Shelton, Conn. – The Post University men's hockey team jumped out to a four-goal lead and held on to defeat Franklin Pierce University, 4-3 in a Northeast-10 game on Tuesday evening at The Rinks at Shelton.
Post got out the gate quickly as Chase Lapworth put home a rebound off a shot from Jack Engdahl to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead just 1:51 into the game.
The Eagles tacked on two more in the second period as John Krapian stuffed home a goal in front of the net with players scrambling for possession to put Post up 2-0 at the 14:28 mark of the second period.
Less than two minutes later, Niko Grollman deflected in a puck off a slap shot from Nick Brewer to give the Eagles a commanding 3-0 lead heading into the third.
Post added a much needed insurance goal at the 7:34 mark of the third period as Patrick Murphy rebounded his own shot and put it home right in front of the crease to give the Eagles the 4-0 lead.
The Ravens attempted a comeback, scoring three goals in the period by Dom Norris, Ryan Gorbett and Trevor Lawler.
The Eagles are now 2-4 overall and 2-2 in the NE10.
Brandon Brown finished with 37 saves in net. Evan Lugo won 11 of his 12 faceoffs.
