Waterbury, Conn. - Roberto Salas ran for 136 yards and
Broghean McGovern threw for 246 yards and a touchdown as the Post University football team defeated Milford Academy, 35-22 on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 20-0 lead.Â
Their first score came on a five yard touchdown pass from McGovern to
Reese Hadeka with 8:12 in the first quarter to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead.
It didn't take long for the Eagles to score on their next possession as Salas took the first snap from scrimmage after the Eagles got the ball back and took it to the house for an 80 yard score, giving the Eagles a 13-0 lead.
Post would get the ball back on downs and after hitting
Drevon Yeldell on a 16 yard pass, McGovern found
Antonio Spencer for a 59 yard touchdown to give the Eagles a commanding 20-0 lead.
After recovering a fumble with 8:27 remaining in the second quarter, McGovern hit
Nick Wright for a 31 yard strike putting the Eagles up 27-6.
Post would go into the half up 33-6 as
Edit Krivca returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown, giving the Eagles the 33-6 lead.
Milford Academy attempted a comeback in the second half, scoring 16 unanswered points, but the Eagles were able to hold on for the win.
Wright finished with five catches for 89 yards and a TD. Spencer had two catches for 65 yards.
