Women's Volleyball Puts Away Caldwell In Four Sets

Caldwell, N.J. - The Post University picked up a 3-1 road win Thursday night, defeating Caldwell University in a Central Athletic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest.  

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Madelynn Boop once again led the way for Post picking up a match-high 20 kills. Kaitlyn Sharkey wasn't too far behind, ending the night with 17. Lydimar Soto chipped in nine kills, while leading the team with two aces.
  • Defensively, Nelly Diaz pulled up 20 digs, followed by 17 from both Soto and Boop. Elizabeth McGrath, Kaitlyn Lemmon, Aniya Goodman, and Boop each had a block.
  • Caldwell was paced by 11 kills from Reese Sherwood and Amanda Schiltz, while Humiko Stormer pulled up a match-high 21 digs.
  • Post fell behind early in the opening set. Trailing 8-2, the Eagles slowly began to chip away at the deficit, eventually tying the contest at 17-17. The team took its first lead with a kill by Sharkey. Caldwell battled back, re-taking the lead, just to lose it down the stretch courtesy of solid play from Boop, Lemmon, and Soto.  
  • Caldwell couldn't get anything going in the second set, handing Post a dominating 25-7 win. The Eagles scored the first five points of the set and never looked back. The Eagles had 16 kills in the set, including four of the last five points. Goodman had three of the kills during the closing stretch.
  • The fourth set was much closer, as both teams went on stretches of four straight points. But with the Eagles up 15-14, the Cougars went on a 6-0 run to take the lead for good, including three kills by Reese Sherwood during the pivotal run.
  • Post scored the first six points of the fourth set before Caldwell bounced back, putting together a run of its own to pull within a point. The Eagles went on another run of their own moments later, taking a 12-6 lead. The Cougars clawed their way back into the contest, taking the lead once more at 20-19. Post put the set and the match away at the end with a 6-0 run with Boop and Sharkey combining for four kills.
