Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University volleyball team fell 3-1 to Holy Family Saturday afternoon in a Central Athletic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest in the Drubner Center.
THE RUNDOWN:
- Madelynn Boop led all players with 18 kills, while also finishing with an ace, one assist, and nine digs. Lydimar Soto ended the game with 13 kills and three aces. Colleen Romero led all players with 43 assists.
- Kaitlyn Lemmon, Niah Messidor, and Boop all finished with three blocks. Nelly Diaz ended the contest with a match-high 32 digs.
- Allyssa Harney paced the Tigers with 16 kills, while Morgan Silks ended the day with 36 assists.
- After trading possession of the lead in the opening set, Post took the lead for good courtesy of a Kaitlyn Sharkey kill. Boop and Soto closed out the set with back-to-back kills, earning Post the 25-22 win.
- The Tigers rushed ahead to a 13-7 advantage in the second set, but the Eagles responded with a run of their own, pulling within a point. Despite the run, Post would not be able to capture the lead, dropping the set 25-17.
- Post responded with a strong run to open the third set, but Holy Family came back, taking the lead for good on an ace by Maeve Boylan (20-19). The Tigers closed the set on a 5-4 run to take the match lead.
- The fourth set saw two runs by Holy Family, both of which saw Post make come backs, however, the Tigers would prove to be too much earning the 25-22 win.
