Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University Eagles fell 2-1 Tuesday afternoon to the Bloomfield Bears in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at LaMoy Field.
The Eagles struck first, with a goal from
Sergio Sanchez in the 51
st minute. The goal came after a shot from
Sergio Diaz took a deflection from the Bear goalkeeper, falling perfectly to Sanchez at the left post.
Bloomfield capitalized in the 70
th minute with a goal from Matiss Zegele, assisted by Mateuz Koslowski. The Bears scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the 71
st minute with a curling ball to the top left corner from Edgar Torres.
Post, who outshot Bloomfield 16-10, was the stronger side in the first half, putting four shots on frame.
Robert Kornel collected the win for Bloomfield after making five saves in 90 minutes of action.
David Mollenthiel made one save in the complete game loss.
With the loss the Eagles fall to 2-5-1 on the season and 2-2 in conference action. The Bears improve to 4-5-1 overall and 3-1 in CACC play.
