Jersey City, N.J. – Colleen Romero had 43 assists, and
Madelynn Boop had 16 kills and four aces as the Post University women's volleyball team completed a season sweep of Nyack, 3-1 (23-25, 25-11, 25-19, 26-24) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on Thursday night.
The Eagles now sit at 8-13 overall and 5-4 in CACC play. They are third in the CACC North.
After losing a tight first set, the Eagles took control in the second set with a 10-1 run to close out the frame, including the last seven points. Six different players had kills for the Eagles, four of them coming from
Kaitlyn Sharkey.
Set three saw the Eagles go down 9-3 early on, but an 11-2 run vaulted the Eagles ahead, with
Jayda Roman accumulating three service aces during the run. Boop had two aces as well. Post would go on to score four of the final five points of the set, all on kills.
The fourth and final set had no shortage of drama as the Eagles rallied again, this time later in the set. Down 20-15, Post scored the next six points to take a brief 21-20 lead. Nyack battled back to take a 24-23 lead and were serving for set point. However, the Eagles scored on kills for the final three points, the last two from Boop.
Aniya Goodman finished with five blocks.
Nelly Diaz had 25 digs.
Lydimar Soto had 12 kills, while Sharkey had nine.
Boop now leads the CACC in kills with 284.
Post had an attacking percentage of .226 as opposed to .127 from Nyack. The Eagles also had 51 kills to Nyack's 45.
