Auburndale, Fla. - The Post University softball team split two games on Sunday, defeating Glenville State, 8-2 in the early game before falling to Hillsdale, 5-2 in the second game.
Post took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single by sophomore Bailee Zaccaro, before Glenville State answered in the bottom of the inning. The Eagles would take a 2-1 lead, one they would not relinquish in the top of the third on a passed ball that scored junior Cassidy Petrie.
Sophomore Kasey Jusino went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, in the top of the fifth inning, that gave the Eagles a 3-1 lead. She would later score on an error, making it a 4-1 game at the time.
Junior Demi Rivera would then clobber her first homer of the season, a solo shot, giving Post the 5-1 lead in the sixth. She also did it big on the mound, striking out five in a complete game, giving up just three hits and two runs, one of them earned.
After Glenville State cut it to a 5-2 game, the Eagles capitalized on mistakes in the field from Glenville State scoring on an error and a passed ball before freshman Juliana Rigano hit an RBI single to make it an 8-2 game.
Against Hillsdale, freshman Courtney Brobst had an RBI single as did senior Brianna Rotunno.
Brobst single scored Rotunno, making it a 2-1 Hillsdale lead in the bottom of the second. After Hillsdale responded with a run to go back up, 3-1, Rotunno's single cut the deficit to one, scoring Zaccaro who singled earlier in the inning.
The Eagles will play University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown at noon and American International College at 1:30 p.m.
