Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Souto And DiStefano Go Goal Crazy In Women’s Lacrosse Thumping Of UDC

Waterbury, Conn. – Senior Jaylene Souto scored seven goals and freshman Cara DiStefano scored six as the Post University women's lacrosse team won its first game of the season, a 17-5 victory over the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) on Wednesday afternoon at LaMoy Field.

Souto's seven goals were a career-high in a game and just one off the school record, set by Savannah Schwack last season.

The two teams split the first six goals of the game as Souto had two of the goals and DiStefano with the other.

After that, however, the Eagles would go on a scoring clinic over the final 12:37 of the first and the first 33 seconds of the second, as they rattled off nine straight goals. DiStefano scored five of those goals during the stretch, while Souto had three, and assisted on one of DiStefano's. Freshman Lotanna Nwabudu had the other goal during the run.

The Firebirds didn't threaten the rest of the way as Souto scored two more goals, while sophomore Morgan Cassiliano, junior Julia Thomas and freshman Athlyn Wood each scored one.

DiStefano now has 13 goals on the season to lead the Eagles and has scored in every game to begin her Post University career. Souto now has 12.

In goal, sophomore Christina Badaracco earned her first win of the season with five saves.

The Eagles outshot the Firebirds, 33-13.

Up next, the Eagles play at American International College at 1 p.m. on March 7.
