Worcester, Mass. – The Post University men's lacrosse team dropped a 17-9 game on the road on Wednesday evening in a non-conference game.
Junior Justin Nogueira and freshman Nick Meier each scored two goals to lead the Eagles.
The Eagles fell behind, 1-0 in the first 29 seconds, but freshman Brendan Kelleher answered at the 11:13 mark to tie up the game.
Assumption scored the next five goals before Meier scored his first of the game. The Eagles would fall behind 8-2 but two goals in the final minute, one by senior Jake Bova and one by Nogueira made it an 8-4 Assumption lead at the break.
The Eagles got within three goals twice in the second half on goals from Meier and classmate Ryan Baker made it a 9-6 game at the 10:54 mark.
However, the Greyhounds scored eight of the next nine goals to take a 17-7 lead. Freshmen Nicholas Steele and freshman Quran Langston scored the final two tallies for the Eagles.
Kelleher had two assists to go along with his goal. Bova and Steele each had an assist to go along with their goals for the Eagles (0-5).
Senior Manuele D'Alessio had 14 saves in net for the Eagles.
Nicholas Shanley, Brett Jennings and Anthony D'Angelo each had three goals apiece for Assumption (0-2).
Up next, the Eagles will face Franklin Pierce on the road at noon on March 7.
