Auburndale, Fla. – Sophomore Kasey Jusino homered and juniors Demi Rivera and Bridget Betley combined for a shutout as the Post University softball team defeated Concord, 1-0 in the Eagles second game of the day on Tuesday. In their first game of the day, the Eagles lost, 8-0 to Quincy.
Jusino - who was second on the Eagles in homeruns last season - hit her first of the season to left field off of Concord pitcher Josie Brewer in the fourth inning.
It was all the eagles needed as Jusino and Rivera combined for two strikeouts, with Rivera earning the win.
Concord loaded the bases with one out on two walks and a single in the top of the sixth, but confusion on the base paths occurred when Madi Cupp thought she walked, which led Dani Bloomingdale to stray from third and head home, but was tagged out by Jusino for the second out. Cupp would later strike out in the at bat to end the threat.
In game one against Quincy, freshman Courtney Brobst and junior Brittany Giordano got the lone hits in the game.
Taylor Downen and Madeline Ruzicka drove in two runs apiece for Quincy.
The Eagles will take on Salem at 10:15 a.m. and Ferris State at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
