Two Big Innings Lift Softball Past Salem; Lose To Ferris State In Second Game

Auburndale, Fla. – The Post University softball team split its final day of action on its spring break trip, defeating Salem, 12-0 in the morning before falling to Ferris State in its second game of the day, 6-0.

Against Salem, the Eagles used a seven-run third to blow the doors open on the game.

The first three runners reached base to load them for junior Demi Rivera whose sacrifice fly drove in the first run of the game.  Sophomore Paige Delier followed with an RBI single to score classmate Kasey Jusino.

After the bases were loaded again, a sacrifice fly from Brittany Giordano made it a 3-0 game. Back-to-back two-run singles by junior Cassidy Petrie and Leyri Rivera made it a 7-0 game.

The Eagles tacked on five more runs in the fifth, highlighted by a two-run doubles from sophomore Allyson Wallauer and another two-run single from Petrie.

On the mound, junior Demi Rivera pitched a complete game, giving up just five hits and striking out one. She is now 3-0 on the season.

Petrie finished the game 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run. Sophomore Bailee Zaccaro was 3-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. Wallauer was 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs.
