Isaiah Holmes had 14 points and junior
Devonte McCall had a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds, but after leading early, the Post University men's basketball team lost a 70-68 game to Nyack on Saturday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game.
The Eagles are now 18-9 overall and 12-6 in the CACC.
With the game tied at 68-68, Nyack's Joel Bailey fed Junior Graham on a pick and roll and scored with 1.1 seconds left to give Nyack the 70-68 lead.
However, Nyack cut down the lead quickly and took its first lead of the second half at 48-46 at the 12:31 mark after going on a 21-4 run to begin the half. Joel Bailey lead the way for the Warriors during the run with ten points, including the go-ahead layup in which he was fouled.
On the next possession, junior
Darrick Boyd hit a three to get the Eagles back up by one at 49-48.
Post upped its lead back to six points after a layup from Boyd made it a 58-52 game at the 6:45 mark, but again the Warriors rallied, tying the game on a three from Thomas Noland with 53 seconds left to make it a 66-66 game.
Bailey followed with two free throws to give Nyack a two-point lead at 68-66 lead. Holmes would tie the game for the Eagles with 15 seconds left, setting the stage for the final play.
After the two teams were tied, 12-12 after the first 7:41, the Eagles went on an 18-5 run over the course of the next 6:23 to take a 30-17 lead at the 5:42 mark as senior
Savion Boissard scored seven points during the stretch to put the Eagles in control early.
The Eagles extended its lead to 35-19 after a three from Holmes and took their biggest lead of the half at the 1:37 mark after a jumper from Holmes made it a 42-24 Eagles lead. Post would go into the half leading, 42-27. Holmes scored 11 in the first half and McCall had eight, while
Boissard had seven.
Boyd finished with 12 points and Boissard had nine points and five rebounds.
Graham finished with 20 points for Nyack. Bailey had 15 points and 11 rebounds.
The Eagles will conclude their regular season on February 29 when they host Concordia at 3 p.m. for Senior Day.
