Cassiliano Scores Five Goals, But Women’s Lacrosse Falls To Florida Tech

Sparks, Md. – Sophomore Morgan Cassiliano scored five goals for the Post University women's lacrosse team lost 16-8 against Florida Tech on Saturday evening at the United States Lacrosse Facility.
 
After falling behind 3-0 early on, Cassiliano scored her first goal, unassisted to make it a 3-1 game at the 25:45 mark of the first half.
 
Florida Tech responded with the next four goals before freshman Cara DiStefano scored in her second straight game on an unassisted goal t make it a 7-2 game. The two teams would split the next four goals, two of them from Cassiliano of the unassisted variety as the Panthers took a 9-4 lead into the break.
 
Junior Julia Thomas cut the Eagles' deficit to 9-5 at the 23:41 mark with her first goal of the season. After back-to-back goals from the Panthers, Cassiliano scored her fourth goal of the game. Florida Tech would score the next three goals and take an eight goal lead at 14-6 with 11:17 remaining. Senior Aolani Hermosura and Cassiliano would each tack on a goal in the final 7:44 of the game.
 
Cassiliano had five games with five or more goals last season.
 
Sophomore Christina Badaracco had 16 saves in goal for the Eagles.
 
Aleah Fjelstad had four goals to lead the Panthers. Alexis Townsend had three.
 
The Eagles will be off for ten days and return to action at Saint Thomas Aquinas at 3 p.m. on February 25.
