Newark, De. – Senior Marcus Johnson scored a career-high 26 points as the Post University men's basketball team won in blowout fashion over Wilmington in a 90-63 victory in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles have won three straight games and are 15-6 overall and 9-3 in the CACC.
After conceding the first four points to the Wildcats, the Eagles scored 16 straight as Johnson scored five points. D.J. Frechette hit a three to cap the run for the Eagles.
Wilmington cut the lead to 16-8, but another 17-7 run from the Eagles gave them a 33-15 lead at 6:33. Junior Darrick Boyd hit a three, while Johnson and sophomore Devonte McCall chipped in with four points during the run. The Eagles would never lead by less than 12 points the rest of the half, and took a 44-29 lead at the half.
After the Wildcats hit a three to open the second half to make it a 44-32 game, Post scored seven of the next nine points, including a three from sophomore Isaiah Holmes to make it a 51-34 game.
Post took its first 20-plus point lead at the 13:03 mark on a layup from senior Savion Boissard. The Eagles took a 74-46 lead on a layup from Johnson to make it 74-46, before Wilmington responded with a 9-0 run to make it a 74-55 game. It would be as close as the Wildcats would get, as Post finished with a 16-8 run to end the game.
Boissard finished with 14 points. McCall had nine points and seven rebounds.
It is the seventh game this season the Eagles have won by 20 points or more.
Eleven different players scored for the Eagles.
Jermaine Head scored 18 points to lead the Wildcats.
The Eagles host Caldwell on February 4 at 7:30 p.m.
