Middletown, Conn. – The Post University women's hockey team opened up 2020 with an early lead, but ultimately fell to Wesleyan, 4-1 on Saturday evening in a road non-conference game.
Just 2:14 into the game, freshman Sadie Storm scored her seventh goal of the season on a pass from senior Julia Schatz and freshman Eve Lundin to give the Eagles the early 1-0 lead. Storm is second on the team in goals.
Post held the lead until the 1:51 mark of the second period before Audrey McMahon scored for the Cardinals to tie the game. Wesleyan would get two more goals from Ally Detre in the second and take a 3-1 lead into the third period, where they would add a power play goal.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Daly stopped 31 shots for the Eagles (6-14, 1-11 NEWHA), including 14 in the second period.
Up next, the Eagles begin the first of five straight games at home as they host King's College at 2 p.m. on January 7.
