Philadelphia, Pa. – Junior Darrick Boyd made a season-high six three-pointers and led the men's basketball team with 18 points as the Eagles dominated Holy Family, 101-58 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles have now won four straight games and sits at 9-4 overall and 3-1 in the CACC.
Boyd had previously hit five three-pointers on two other occasions this season.
As a team, the Eagles hit 17 threes, which was a season-high, and the 101 points was the first time the Eagles have scored 100 or more points in a game since they scored 100 against Holy Family in a 100-87 win on January 5 2019.
Post never trailed, as it opened up the game with a three-pointer from sophomore Devonte McCall and Boyd to give the Eagles a 6-2 lead. The teams would split the next 16 points of the game until a three from sophomore Isaiah Holmes began the offensive outburst at the 14:39 mark of the first half. The Eagles led by as much as 25 points on two different occasions in the first half (51-26 and 53-28) and took a 54-32 lead at halftime.
The Eagles hit nine threes in the first half, five of them from Boyd on seven attempts. Junior Jonathan Duvivier hit two threes as well. Post shot 51.2 percent (21-for-41) from the field in the first half and forced Holy Family into 12 turnovers, leading to 21 points. Post only gave up one offensive rebound to the Tigers, while grabbing ten of their own in the first half for 13 second chance points.
It was more of the same story in the second half for the Eagles, as they outscored the Tigers 38-13 in the final 13:52 of the game after Holy Family (5-9, 2-3 CACC) cut its deficit to 63-45.
Post hit eight more threes in the second half as junior Omar Telfer Jr. and freshman Josiah Green each hit two threes in the half. Ten different Eagles scored in the second half as the team shot 19-for-38 from the field.
The Eagles outrebounded the Tigers 45-27 in the game and only allowed five offensive rebounds to Holy Family while grabbing 18 of their own.
McCall and Duvivier each finished with 13 points, while sophomore Abdul-Basit Ajia hit all seven of his field goal attempts for 15 points while grabbing eight rebounds, a team-high.
Post will play host to Nyack in a CACC match on January 8 at 7:30 p.m.
