Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Landry Scores, But Women’s Hockey Falls To Long Island

Shelton, Conn. – Freshman Mia Landry scored a goal to the game early, but ultimately, the Post University women's hockey team lost to Long Island University, 7-1 in a New England Women's Hockey Alliance match on Friday afternoon.

The Eagles now sit at 11-18 overall and 1-14 in NEWHA.

Down 1-0 after the 6:05 mark and the Eagles on a power play, Landry got the Eagles on the board on a slap shot off a face off as senior Molly Brumfield fed a beautiful pass to her as Landry went top shelf to tie the game, 1-1 at the 13:34 mark. The game would be tied after the first 20 minutes.

The Sharks would score two more goals courtesy of Abby Latorella and four more in the third, two coming from Renee Hoffmann.

The Eagles had 37 shots on goal, with freshman Sadie Storm leading the way with six shots.

In net, senior Jenna Baumgartner had 51 saves. It was her second-highest total of the season.

The two teams meet again, this time at Long Island (8-16-0, 8-7-0 NEWHA) on Saturday at 4:15 p.m.
