Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Duvivier Has Career Day as Eagles Dominate Chestnut Hill

Waterbury, Conn. -  Junior Jonathan Duvivier scored a career-high 28 points, and sparked a game-changing run early on as the Post University men's basketball team took care of Chestnut Hill 109-71 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game.

Led by Duvivier, the Eagles bench scored 49 points, as they moved to 13-6 on the season and 7-3 in the CACC.

The 109 points from the Eagles were the most they scored in a game since the 2003-2004 season when they scored 112 against Goldey-Beacom in a win. It was also the largest margin of victory they ever had over the Griffins.

Duvivier entered the game at the 17:05 mark of the first half with the Eagles leading 10-6 and immediately made an impact, scoring the next ten points, including two three-pointers to give Post a 20-13 lead at the 14:01 mark.

The Griffins answered with a 10-1 run and took a 23-21 lead at the 12:02 mark after a three from James Rider, but senior Marcus Johnson answered with a three on the very next possession to give the Eagles their lead back at 24-23.

The two teams would exchange baskets over the next five minutes, until a jumper from Duvivier game the Eagles a 33-32 lead at the 6:56 mark leading to a 21-5 run to end the half. Duvivier scored six of his points during the run and senior Savion Boissard had four points during the run. Johnson capped the run with a three to give Post the 52-37 lead.

Post didn't let up in the second half, extending its lead to 67-46 after a baseline dunk from Boissard which sent the Drubner Center into a frenzy at the 13:47 mark. The Griffins wouldn't get closer than 17 points the rest of the way, as Boissard's 13 second half points and Duvivier's 12 put the Eagles in cruise control the rest of the way.

The 65 rebounds from the Eagles were also a season-high, as Chestnut Hill only grabbed 36. The Eagles scored 27 points off of 27 offensive rebounds. Post also scored 52 points in the paint. Duvivier led the Eagles with four three-pointers.

Johnson finished with a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Boissard had 21 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Abdul-Basit Ajia had 14 rebounds and classmate Isaiah Holmes had 18 points.

Trevonn Pits led all Griffins in scoring with 14.

Up next, Post takes on Bloomfield in a CACC road match at 7:30 p.m. on January 29.
