Rutherford, N.J. – The Post University men's basketball team is knocking on the doors of the school's record book after winning its seventh straight game, a 99-79 drubbing of Felician in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Wednesday evening.
Post is now 12-4 overall and 6-1 in the CACC and are now in sole possession of first place in the CACC North Division. The seven straight wins are the second most in school history.
Junior Devonte McCall led all Eagles with 20 points and nine rebounds.
The Eagles used a 16-1 run to start the game and never looked back, hitting three three-pointers during the stretch. Junior Darrick Boyd contributed two of those three, while seniors D.J. Jarrett and Marcus Johnson each hit one.
Post would increase its lead to 26 points in the first half, after a 20-9 run that saw three more three-pointers hit, including one from McCall, sophomore Isaiah Holmes and Boyd put Post up 49-23. The Eagles hit nine of their 15 three-pointers in the first half. It's the second-most threes they have hit in a game this season and the fifth time they have made ten or more.
Felician finished on a 17-7 run to cut the Eagles lead to 56-40 at the half.
The Eagles forced ten turnovers in the half, which they converted for 16 points.
The Golden Falcons never threatened the Eagles in the second half, getting only as close as 13 points the rest of the way. Post countered that with a 25-9 run over a nine-minute plus stretch and taking an 85-56 lead after a three-pointer from sophomore D.J. Frechette. It was Frechette's second straight three, that went along with a three from Johnson and Boyd. Frechette was 3-for-3 from three-point range in the half and scored all nine of his points.
Boyd finished with 18 points on 4-for-7 shooting from three. Senior Savion Boissard also had 18. Holmes finished with a career-high nine assists.
The Eagles have the second highest scoring average in the CACC at 83.2 points per game, just 2.2 behind Dominican. They are also second in three-pointers made (151) and three-point percentage (37.7).
Josiah Basket led all Felician players with 22 points.
The Eagles will take on USciences on the road on January 18 at 3 p.m. in a CACC match.
