Rindge, N.H. – The Post University men's hockey team held a two-goal lead, but fell to Franklin Pierce 4-3 in a tough overtime loss in the Northeast10 Conference Tuesday night.
The Eagles now sit at 2-10-1 overall and 0-7-0 in the NE10.
Junior Evan Lugo got the Eagles on the board in the first period at the 6:32 mark after taking a loose puck in the high slot and put a one-timer past goalkeeper Ian Wallace. Junior Jake Raleigh and sophomore Niko Grollman got the assist on the goal.
Senior Tyler Hackett would put Post up 2-0 at the 7:07 mark in the second period after a 5-on-3 goal as he stuffed home a rebound off a shot from Lugo.
The Ravens answered with two goals in the third to tie the game at 2-2, but Grollman put the Eagles back up at the 9:14 mark as Raleigh fed him for a one-timer to make it a 3-2 game.
However, the Ravens (10-5-1, 4-1-0 NE10) would tie the game at the 17:20 mark as Anthony Nikopoulos's goal would send the game to overtime. In overtime, James Morrisey scored the game-winner for the Ravens at the 2:35 right in front of the net.
Junior Brandon Brown finished with 40 saves on the day for the Eagles.
Up next, the Eagles play on the road against Saint Anselm on January 17 (7 p.m.) and 18th (4 p.m.) in an NE10 clash.
