Jayda Roman had 13 kills and 12 digs and classmate
Kim Buttery had 21 digs, but the Post University women's volleyball team lost 3-1 (20-25, 26-24, 25-16, 25-22) to Felician in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game on Friday evening.
The Eagles opened up the match with a first set win, using an 8-4 run midway through the set. With the Eagles up 12-10, a kill by Roman followed by an ace on her own and an error from Felician extended the Eagles lead to 15-10. After the Golden Falcons answered with four points of their own, Post scored another five points, including a kill from freshman
Mikayla McLeod and senior
Shannon Veale as well as two aces from Buttery to take the insurmountable 20-14 lead at the time. Post closed out the set on a solo block from senior
Ann Marie Nelson.
In set two, the teams swapped leads eight times, as the Eagles held set point at 24-23 before Felician scored the final three points. Five different Eagles had kills on during the set, with Roman having four to lead the Eagles. Veale had three kills during the set.
Felician jumped out to a 13-6 lead in set three and held on for the nine-point win. Junior
Elizabeth McGrath had nine assists in the set, with four of those assists going to kills from
Aniya Goodman.
With Post up 7-6 in the fourth set, back-to-back kills from Goodman started a 4-0 run that would push the Eagles lead to 11-6. However, Felician answered with a 4-0 run of their own to cut their deficit to 11-10. The teams would exchange the next eight points before the Golden Falcons went on a 6-0 run to take the 20-16 lead. Post got within one point at 23-22 after kills from Nelson and Roman, but Felician ended the match on a kill and an ace.
McGrath finished with 39 assists to lead the Eagles.
Miquela Martinez had 41 assists for Felician. Raamiah Edwards led the Golden Falcons with 18 kills.
