Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University women's volleyball team lost a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-22) match to Bloomfield in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tilt.
Senior Michelle Stublarec led the Eagles with ten kills on the day while adding a block. Classmate Shannon Veale led the team with 13 digs to go along with her four kills.
The Eagles nearly extended the match to four sets after an impressive run in the third. Down 19-14 in set three, the Eagles went on a 7-1 run to take a 21-20 lead, aided by two kills from junior Aniya Goodman and one from Stublarec, but the Bears finished on a 5-1 run to win the match.
After not having a lead in the first set, the Eagles were able to take a 7-4 lead in set two, thanks to a 4-0 run early on. Down 4-3, a kill by Veale started the run, followed by three straight errors by the Bears.
Bloomfield would take a 12-10 lead after an 8-3 run, before two straight kills from Stublarec tied the game at 12-12. It'd be the last tie of the set, as Bloomfield finished on a 7-2 run to lead the match, 2-0.
Junior Suzy Boulay finished with 12 digs for the Eagles. Senior Ann Marie Nelson had eight kills and Goodman had five.
Jandra Fabian led the Bears with ten kills. Juliette Tygret of Bloomfield had 36 assists.
Up next, the Eagles take on Chestnut Hill on the road on Friday at 5 p.m.
