Adamo Scores Early, Amber McGee Scores Late As Women’s Soccer Earns First Win Of The Season Over Nyack

Nyack, N.Y. – Junior Sabrina Adamo scored two goals and Amber McGee scored a late game winner in regulation as the Post University women's soccer team took down Nyack, 3-2 for its first win of the season in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match.

Adamo got on the board in the fourth minute, taking a cross from Fitore Kllobocishta inside the box to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead in the fourth minute.

In the 23rd minute, Adamo scored again for Post. This time, freshman Lydia Asamoah fed a lead pass to Adamo, who caught Nyack goalkeeper Nicole Benesch out of position, and patiently put the ball in the net to give the Eagles the 2-0 lead.

The Warriors would score twice in a span of two minutes as Maria Vargas (33rd minute) and Milena Ricken (35th minute) tied the game before the half.

Scoring went silent for the better part of the second half until Kllobocishta chipped a pass into the box over the defenders and Amber McGee headed the ball into the net to give the Eagles the 3-2 lead, one they would hold the rest of the way.

Post outshot the warriors, 20-7 in the match with Asamoah leading the team with six.

It was the sixth straight win for the Eagles (1-3-2, 1-1-0 CACC) over the Warriors.

"We started the game well and created a number of goal scoring opportunities early," Post head coach Stephanie Demake said. "It was great that we were able to capitalize on two of those chances early on. Credit to Nyack who did not back down and battled for the remainder of the game. We were fortunate to finish a chance late in the second half but, we need to continue to focus on playing a more complete 90 minutes."

Up next, the Eagles take on Bloomfield on Oct. 1 at home at 3 p.m.
