Waterbury, Conn. – Sergio Sanchez scored early, and Sergio Diaz scored a second half goal to go along with an assist as the Post University men's soccer team defeated Jefferson, 2-0 in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener on Saturday afternoon.
Sanchez scored in the fifth minute after Diaz cut through the middle of the defense and hit Sanchez running on the left side into the 18 yard box. Sanchez crossed over to his right foot and struck one past goalkeeper, Stephen Paul to give Post the 1-0 lead.
Diaz would get into the scoring himself, scoring on a penalty kick in the 68th minute after a foul from Paul in the box. It was the third goal of the season for Diaz, his second on a penalty kick.
Sophomore David Mollenthial had four saves in his shutout performance. Diaz led the team with six shots on goal.
