Men’s Soccer Remains Undefeated In CACC Play After Win Over Nyack

Nyack, N.Y. -  Junior Sergio Diaz had a goal and an assist as the Post University men's soccer team defeated Nyack, 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Tuesday afternoon.

The win puts the Eagles at 3-1-1 on the season and 2-0-0 in the CACC.

Junior Alvaro Sanchez put Post on the board first in the 24th minute, taking a touch pass from Diaz on the right side of the box, and striking it with his left foot past goalkeeper Jose Perez Piqueras to give Post the 1-0 lead.

Post would go into the half with the 1-0 lead and wouldn't expand it until the 69th minute when sophomore Sergio Sanchez took a pass from Phillimon Bedard-Khalid inside the box to give Post the 2-0 lead. The Eagles had countered after a save from goalkeeper David Mollenthial on a free kick from Mitchell Reed. Diaz passed a long ball to Bedard-Khalid to set up the goal.

Diaz got into the goal scoring action in the 80th minute on a free kick from about 25 yards out on the lower left side of the goal, just out of the reach of Perez Piqueras.

Mollenthial finished with three saves.

Coach Ted Haley was pleased with the Eagles third straight win.

"Proud of the performance today from start to finish," Haley said. "We managed the game and created a bunch of quality chances. Defensively, we were solid and denied opportunities for our second straight clean sheet. Massive game ahead on Saturday against Le Moyne and the guys will hopefully be up for the occasion!"

The Eagles will take on Le Moyne on Saturday at 2 p.m. at home in a non-conference game.
