Waterbury, Conn. - Freshman
Kasey Jusino (Bordentown, N.J.) had three RBI in game one, leading the Eagles to a game one win against against Wilmington, 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at LaMoy Field. Wilmington took the second game of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader, 12-3.
Jusino's day started off with a bang, hitting a two-run homer in the top of the first that scored junior
Leyri Rivera (Dover, N.J.) who singled to lead off the inning. It gave Post a 2-0 lead, one they wouldn't relinquish.
Jusino put the Eagles up 3-0 in the bottom of the third with an RBI single that again scored
Leyri Rivera. Wilmington got on the board with a run in the top of the fourth, but the Eagles answered with two more of their own as freshman
Rianne Mayer (Berlin, Conn.) hit an RBI double that scored junior
Brianna Rotunno (Staten Island, N.Y.), who also doubled to make it a 4-1 game. Sophomore
Brittany Giordano (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) followed that up with an RBI single that scored Mayer, giving the Eagles the 5-1 lead.
Leyri Rivera finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs. Jusino funished 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run.
On the mound, senior
Leslie Denis (Swansea, Mass.) (3-1) got the win, pitching four innings, giving up a run on three hits while striking out three. Sophomore
Bridget Betley (Faifield, N.J.) got the save, her second of the season in an inning of relief.
In game two, sophomore
Demi Rivera (Hazlet, N.J.) and freshman
Sydney Jones (Camden, N.Y.) each homered in the 12-3 game two loss.
Demi Rivera's homer came in the bottom of the second with the Eagles down 6-0, cutting the deficit to 6-1 with her third homer of the season.
With the Eagles down 12-1 in the bottom of the first, Jones hit her first homer of her career, a two-run shot that scored Rotunno that cut the deficit to 12-3.
Sophomore
Cassidy Petrie (Staten Island, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 for the Eagles.Â
Lauren Lopez went 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI for the Wildcats. Makayla McCarthy went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run.
Up next, the Eagles (11-14, 5-7 CACC) take on Bloomfield on Tuesday in a home CACC doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
