Eagles Sweep Felician; Winning Streak At Four

Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University swept Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference rival, Felician 10-0 and 8-3 on Wednesday afternoon in a doubleheader thanks to the big bat of freshman Allyson Wallauer (Landenberg, Pa.).

In game one, the Eagles ended the game in five innings, highlighted by a six-run bottom of the third.

Post got on the board in the bottom of the second on an RBI single from Wallauer that scored sophomore Demi Rivera (Hazlet, N.J.) to put the Eagles up, 1-0.

In the third, the bats came alive as seven straight batters reached base with one out in the inning. Freshman Kasey Jusino (Bordentown, N.J.) got the inning going with an RBI double that scored sophomore Cassidy Petrie (Staten Island, N.Y.), who reached on an error. Demi Rivera followed up with an RBI double of her own to make it a 3-0 Eagles lead.

After a single from freshman Bailee Zaccaro (Levittown, Pa.) and a walk to Wallauer, freshman Rianne Mayer (Berlin, Conn.) got the big two-run single to blow the game open and drove in Zaccaro and Demi Rivera to make it a 5-0 lead. Freshman Briana Wilky (Swedesboro, N.J.) then hit an RBI single to score Wallauer. The Eagles tacked on one more run in the inning on a wild pitch that scored junior Leyri Rivera (Dover, N.J.), who singled.

The Eagles were able to mercy Felician after a three-run bottom of the fourth as Wallauer hit a two-run single, followed by an RBI double from Wilky.

On the mound, senior Leslie Denis (Swansea, Mass.) pitched a five innings complete game, giving up just four hits and three walks while striking out three.

Wallauer finished the game going 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBI. Wilky was 3-for-3 with two RBI.

In game two, the Eagles offense kept churning out runs, and never trailed in the 8-3 win.

Mayer got the scoring going for the Eagles in the bottom of the second with a two-run single that scored Wallauer and Zaccaro, who both singled with one out. Wilky tacked on an RBI single to give Post the 3-0 lead after the bottom of the second.

Felician scored two in the top of the third to close the gap to 3-2, but the Eagles got those two runs back in the bottom of the third on a two-run double from Zaccaro, putting the Eagles up, 5-2.

Zaccaro added one more RBI on a single in right in the bottom of the fifth before Wallauer hit a two-run homer to seal the game, her sixth of the season.

Wallauer finished the game going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Zaccaro was 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI.

Up next, the Eagles (19-18, 11-11 CACC) take on Jefferson on the road in a CACC matchup on April 27.

With the two wins, the Eagles have extended their winning streak to four games and have crept back into the CACC playoff race and now sit in sixth place. The top eight teams qualify for the conference tournament.
