Cassiliano Scores Seven Goals, But Eagles Drop Overtime Heartbreaker to Caldwell

Waterbury, Conn. - Freshman Morgan Cassiliano (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored seven goals for the Post University women's lacrosse team as it lost a heartbreaker to Caldwell, 16-15 in overtime on Wednesday afternoon.

Post took an early 3-1 lead as senior Savannah Schwack (Manorville, N.Y.) scored less than a minute into the game. After a goal by Caldwell, Cassiliano scored her first two of the game, giving the Eagles the two goal lead at 22:48. Caldwell answered with four more goals to take a 5-3 lead at the half. No one scored the final 11:56 of the half.

Post opened up the second half with four goals of its own, all in the first 3:20 as Cassiliano scored twice, Schwack once, and junior Jaylene Souto (Middletown, R.I.) added one goal of her own to take a 7-5 lead.

After Caldwell scored back-to-back goals, Cassiliano scored her fourth goal of the game to take an 8-7 lead.

Caldwell scored six of the next seven goals, including three from Arden Kassaleh to take their biggest lead of the game at 13-9. However the Eagles went on a 6-2 run, including four goals in the final 2:45, the most important, Cassiliano's seventh goal of the game to send it into overtime with 27 seconds remaining.

But Emily Lasko played hero for the Cougars with 2:22 left in overtime.

Schwack  finished with three goals, Souto and senior Lauren Chambers (Lebanon, Pa.) had two apiece.

Cassiliano now has 43 goals on the season to lead the team.

The Eagles now sit at 2-11 overall and 1-6 in the CACC and play Felician on the road on April 23 at 7 p.m.
