Tyler Melko (Knoxville, Penn.) went 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI and senior
Rosario Missiti (Belmont, Mass.) in game one of a doubleheader, but the Eagles fell in both games 16-10 and 3-2 against Felician on Saturday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tilt.
In game one, the Golden Falcons jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first before the Eagles answered with a two-run single by Missiti in the bottom of the inning to make it a 4-2 game.
Felician scored five more in the third as Danny Healy Jr. hit a two-run double followed by a two run single by Mike Martinez to take a 9-2 lead.Â
Melko drove in two of his three RBI in the bottom of the third scoring freshman
Christian Aliberti (Eastchester, N.Y.) and junior
Travious Ford (Greenville, N.C.) to make it a 9-4 game.
After another RBI double by Healy to make it a 10-4 Felician lead, Aliberti followed in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI groundout. Melko then added his third RBI of the game, an RBI double that scored Ford, his third run of the game to make it a 10-6 game.
The Eagles got as close as they wold get the rest of the way in the top of the seventh as junior
Evan Schaffner (Boynton Beach, Fla.) hit a pinch hit two-run single to score sophomore
Danny Di Marzo (Fishkill, N.Y.) and Aliberti to make it a 10-8 game, but Felician scored three runs in the eight and three in the ninth to take a commanding 16-8 lead.Â
Di Marzo would add an RBI double in the ninth for Post.
Ford finished the game 3-for-5 with three runs.Â
In game two, the Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on an RBI single from Di Marzo.
Felician scored three in the fourth, highlighted by an two-run double by Jasson Corniel making it a 3-1 game.
Post rallied in the bottom of the seventh as Melko hit a triple to lead off the inning followed by an RBI sacrifice fly by Missiti. After a walk to sophomore
Matt Goehrig (Clifton, N.J.), the Eagles could not get another run across, leaving a runner stranded on first.
Freshman
Chris Torres (Simi Valley, Calif.) pitched five innings for the Eagles giving up three runs while striking out four. Senior
Brett Pisaneschi (East Quogue, N.Y.) had three strikeouts in two innings of relief.
Up next, the Eagles (16-17, 13-9 CACC) play a CACC road doubleheader at Dominican on April 15 beginning at 3 p.m.
