Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Nogueira And Olsen Each Have Hat Trick In Men's Lacrosse Loss To Dominican

Waterbury, Conn. - Sophomore Justin Nogueira (Southington, Conn.) and senior Sean Olsen (Old Bridge, N.J.) each scored a hat trick and the Post University men's lacrosse team nearly rallied from a double digit deficit, but ultimately lost 17-11 to Dominican in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game at LaMoy Field on Wednesday afternoon.

After conceding the first goal of the game to the Chargers 40 seconds in, the Eagles scored at the 13:06 mark in the first on a goal from sophomore Mark Colella (Goshen, N.Y.) to tie the game at 1-1. Dominican's Ryan Fischer and Marcos Pierce would score within a minute of each other, but Nogueira scored back-to-back unassisted goals at 10:21 and 7:20 to tie the game up at 3-3.

The Chargers followed with a 6-0 run of their own from 5:58 of the first to 10:58 of the second period as six different players scored during the stretch.

Post answered with a goal from both junior Jake Bova (Trumbull, Conn.) - assisted by Olsen -  at the 7:24 mark and Olsen's first goal - assisted by Colella -  at 3:50 with the Eagles up a man, making it a 9-5 game. Dominican tacked on a goal with 26 seconds left in the half to go up 10-5.

The goal at the end of the half was the beginning of another 6-0 run for the Chargers putting them up 15-5 at the 2:33 mark of the third before the Eagles began their rally.

Olsen scored his second goal of the game at 2:18 followed by a goal from sophomore Carlos Chacua (Norwalk, Conn.), who scored his team leading 13th goal at 1:44. At the 11:46 mark in the fourth, freshman Dom Albanese (Mount Laurel, N.J.) got into the scoring mix, as his seventh goal of the season made it a 15-8 game.

However, Dominican's Nicolas Jelovic and Fischer scored back to back goals 28 seconds apart to take another nine goal lead at 17-8.

The Eagles tried one more rally as Olsen (7:14), Nogueira (4:41) and Bova (3:25) each scored in the fourth, but the rally would fall short in the end.

Junior Manuele D'Alessio (Mount Laurel, N.J.) had 12 saves in a losing effort for the Eagles in goal.

Up next, the Eagles (1-9, 0-1 CACC) take on Wilmington in a CACC road game beginning at 2:30 p.m. on April 13.
