Chacua Scores Three Goals, But Men's Lacrosse Falls To Saint Michael's, 16-7

Waterbury, Conn. - Sophomore Carlos Chacua (Norwalk, Conn.) scored a hat trick to extend his team lead in goals, but the Post University men's lacrosse team lost 16-7 to Saint Michael's on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field.

Chacua's first goal came at the 7:39 in the first period with the Eagles down 4-0 to cut the deficit. Saint Michael's scored 15 seconds into the game on a goal from Ralph Grillone III and added three more - two from Brian Loughlin- before Chacua got the Eagles on the board.

Sophomore Justin Nogueira (Southington, Conn.) would cut the deficit in half at the 4:03 mark for his third goal of the season to make it 4-2. Grillone III would had his second goal of the game at the 3:58 mark to give Saint Michael's a 5-2 lead after the first period.

St. Michael's scored six straight goals in the second period before Chacua scored his second goal - his ninth of the season - at the 3:42 mark. Classmate Mark Colella (Goshen, N.Y.) would add his fourth goal of the season at 1:56 in the second to make it an 11-4 game. 

St. Michael's scored two goals in the third and added a goal early in the fourth to take a 15-4 lead. The Eagles tried to rally, scoring three straight goals. Junior Jake Bova (Trumbull, Conn.) took a pass from Nogueira at the 9:48 mark and scored his seventh goal of the season to make it a 15-5 game. Cahuca scored less than a minute later to complete his hat trick on a pass from Bova. Sean Olsen would score the final goal for the Eagles on a pass from Nogueira to make it a 15-7 game.

Nogueira finished with a goal and two assists. Bova had a goal and an assist.

Loughlin finished with five goals and two assists for St. Michael's Gillone III finished with four goals and an assist.

Junior Manuele D'Alessio (Mount Laurel, N.J.) had 16 saves for the Eagles.

Up next, the Eagles (1-4) take on Assumption on March 13 at 3 p.m. at LaMoy Field.
