Corey Auten (Stratford, Conn.) scored four goals for the Post University men's lacrosse team, but it dropped a 22-6 game to Assumption on Wednesday afternoon at LaMoy Field.
After conceding the first five goals of the game- with two coming from Assumption's Travis Reid - the Eagles got on the board with 13 seconds left in the first period on a goal from team leading scorer, sophomore
Carlos Chacua (Norwalk, Conn.). It was his 11th goal of the season to make it a 5-1 game after the first period.
Assumption scored at the 10:04 mark to take a 6-1 lead at the 10:04 mark in the second period, but Auten answered with his first goal of the game, and his fourth on the season with 7:57 remaining. Assumption scored the next four goals before Auten put in his second of the game at 1:14. Assumption's Trevor Wilcox would tack on one more goal right before halftime at the 21 second mark to give the Greyhounds the 11-3 lead.
The Greyhounds scored eight consecutive goals in the third to take a 19-3 lead heading in to the final period. Auten would tack on his final two goals, along with a goal from junior
Jake Bova (Trumbull, Conn.) in the fourth. Â Sophomore
Justin Nogueira (Southington, Conn.) had the lone assist of the game for the Eagles.
Reid finished with four goals to lead Assumption. Brett Jennings and Owen Peterson III each had three.
