Missiti Homers As Baseball Splits With Concordia

Waterbury, Conn. - Senior Rosario Missiti (Belmont, Mass.) homered and the Post University baseball team put up six runs in the seventh inning in game one, as they split a doubleheader with Concordia on Friday afternoon. The Eagles won game one, 8-3, and lost game two, 5-3 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader.

Missiti's homer, his seventh of the season gave Post a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth.

After Concordia answered with two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh, the Eagles bats took over in the bottom of the inning as they continued their hot hitting for the week.

Sophomore Miguel De Los Santos (Clifton, N.J.) hit an RBI single to score freshman Isaias Guzman (Passaic, N.J.) to tie the game at 3-3, after a bases loaded walk from classmate Christian Aliberti (Eastchester, N.Y.) gave the Eagles the 4-3 lead, junior Tyler Melko (Knoxville, Penn.) cleared the bases with a three run double to put the Clippers away and take a 7-3 lead. Freshman Nicholas Gastin (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) hit a sac fly to score Melko for the final run for the Eagles.

Melko finished the game 4-for-5 with two runs and three RBI.

Junior Chas Cywin (Bethel, Conn.) got the win in relief for the Eagles, striking out three in 2.2 innings.

In the game two loss, the Eagles scored first on an RBI single by Missiti in the bottom of the first that scored junior Travious Ford (Greenville, N.C.) to give Post the 1-0 lead. Concordia answered in the top of the second on a solo homer by Jake Partridge followed by an RBI single from Kendell Luquis to give the Clippers the 2-1 lead.

The Clippers added three more runs in the fifth, highlighted by an RBI triple by Joseph Impeduglia.

Post rallied in the bottom of the sixth for two runs as sophomore Mike Lisinicchia (Stamford, Conn.) singled to score Ford. Melko then scored on a passed ball with one out. But the Clippers got the last two Eagles out to end the rally.

Up next, the Eagles (9-11, 7-3 CACC) take on Chestnut Hill on Saturday on the road in a CACC doubleheader beginning at noon.
