Betley Helps Lead Eagles To Victory In Second Game Of Doubleheader

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -

GAME ONE

Post jumped ahead of USciences early in the first game by producing two second inning runs on a walk and a fielders choice. Kasey Jusino and Briana Wilky began the inning with a double and a single, followed by a Allyson Wallauer walk to load the bases.

USciences answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 2-2.

USciences scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of fifth when Lauren Davis singled hit a one out single only to then advance to second on a wild pitch and then third on a passed ball. Gina Pustizzi singled Davis in for what would be the games winning run.

Leslie Denis started for the Eagles and went four innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs with two strikeouts.

For USciences, Kaitlyn Gaynor pitched a complete game while allowing six hit and two runs.

GAME TWO

The second game started off much like the first, with Post striking first. This time, Bailee Zaccaro singled in Leyri Rivera who reached on an error and then stole second base.

The Eagles tacked onto their one run lead in the top of the second with three consecutive singles. Cassidy Petrie was third in line and drove in Brianna Rotunno to advance their lead to 2-0.

Back to back doubles in the top of the third helped Post score their third run of the game. Baliee Zaccaro earned the RBI after doubling in Kasey Jusino

USciences scored two runs of their own in the bottom half of third with a two out, two RBI single by Madison LePlante

Post threatened for more runs in the top of the sixth when Demi Rivera and Brianna Wilky stood on second and third with one out after both collecting hits to begin the inning. However, the next two batters went down in order and the Eagles lead remained 3-2.

Cassidy Petrie scored the Eagles fourth run of the game when Leyri Rivera reached on an error by the shortstop. Petrie reached third base on a triple earlier in the inning.

USciences made tings interesting in the bottom of the seventh when runners reached second and third with only one out. The Eagles escaped the jam by allowing only one run and came away with the win.

Bridget Betley earned the win after going 6.1 strong innings, only allowing two earned runs.

Next Up - The Eagles will take on Southern New Hampshire University on Monday, March 24 beginning at 2:00 p.m.
