Washington, D.C. - Senior
Savannah Schwack (Manorville, N.Y.) scored eight goals, and freshman
Morgan Cassiliano (Staten Island, N.Y.) added five more as the Post University women's lacrosse team put a pummeling on the University of District of Columbia, 21-4 on Monday afternoon.
Post jumped out early thanks to Schwack's first goal of the game - and season - at the 28:15 mark before conceding a goal just 12 seconds later to UDC's Madison Boykin. Schwack, again, would score at the 27:37 mark, this time on an assist by
Alana Lopez to make it a 2-1 game. UDC would tie it one more time on a goal from Amy Rock at 24:32, but the Eagles would rattle off eight straight goals to take a 10-2 lead at the 6:06 mark.
Schwack started the scoring run at 22:38 and would score four goals during the run. She added goals at the 17:20, 10:59 and 6:06 marks. The team's leading goal scorer, Cassiliano got in on the scoring during the run, scoring at the 20:21, 17:28 and 16:09 mark. She now has ten goals on the season. Senior
Aolani Hermosura (Stamford, Conn.) would add the other goal during the deciding run at 19:21 for her first goal of the season.
After the Firebirds scored the last goal (Boykin) of the first and the first of the second (Rock), the Eagles would remove all doubt from the game, scoring the final 11 goals of the game.
Schwack started the scoring at the 23:07 mark and was followed quickly by Lopez who scored at 22:26, then another one by Cassiliano, all of which were unassisted.
Cassliano scored two more times during the run (20:59, 8:20) and junior
Jaylene Souto (Middletown, R.I.) scored two straight times at 16:40 and 14:26. Lopez, senior
Lauren Chambers (Lebanon, Pa.), Hermosura and freshman
Molly Dobratz (Southington, Conn.) all added goals during the run.
Freshman goalkeeper
Christina Badaracco (Long Island, N.Y.) earned her first win of the season in net, stopping four shots in 30 minutes. Sophomore
Noreen Donnelly (Staten Island, N.Y.) played the second half and stopped seven shots.
The Eagles outshot the Firebirds (0-3), 42-22.
Up next, the Eagles (1-2) take on Saint Thomas Aquinas at noon on March 14 at LaMoy Field.
