Lake Worth, Fla. - Freshman
Chris Torres (Simi Valley, Calif.) pitched a complete game in the second game of a doubleheader, but the Post University baseball team dropped both ends to the No. 1 team in the East Region, Southern New Hampshire, 6-3 and 1-0 on Monday afternoon.
Torres struck out four in his complete game effort in game two, allowing just one earned run on a sacrifice fly by the Penmen's Jake Poro in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Senior

Nicholas Gastin (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), classmate
Christian Alberti (Eastchester, N.Y.) and sophomore
Danny Di Marzo (Fishkill, N.Y.) had the four hits for the Eagles.
Penmen starter Wesley Tobin struck out 11 in 6 2/3 innings and walked just one.
In the game one loss, junior
Tyler Melko (Knoxville, Penn.) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Gastin went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Post got on the board in the bottom of the first as Melko's single drove home junior
Evan Schaffner (Boynton Beach, Fla.) to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead.
However, the Penmen would add two more runs in both the second and the third innings to take a 4-1 lead highlighted by an RBI single by Joshua Goldstein in the bottom of the second that gave SNHU the 2-1 lead.
The Penmen tacked on one more run in the fourth on a steal of home by Goldstein and one more in the sixth.
Post attempted a rally in the sixth inning as they had runners on second and third with one out. Gastin would hit a sac fly that scored Melko - who doubled - to make it a 6-2 game.
Again, the Eagles made a rally attempt in the ninth getting the first two runners on base as Missiti and Gastin singled to open the inning. After recording an out, the Eagles were able to get a run across as a single from freshman

However, SNHU's Jeffrey Praml struck out the only two batters he faced to end the rally and the game.
Sophomore
Matt Goehrig (Clifton, N.J.) started on the mound for the Eagles, giving up five runs, all earned on five hits and four walks. He struck out one.
Up next, the Eagles take on Caldwell in a non-conference doubleheader on March 12.
