- GAME 1 -
CLERMONT, Fla. - Post University Softball opened up their 2019 campaign by taking on Pittsburgh at Johnstown, a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.Â
Leslie Denis got the call to start and immediately worked out of a trouble. With runners on second and third in the first inning, Denis induced a ground out, followed by a fly out to right field to escape the inning.Â
Cassidy Petrie began the Eagles 2019 season at the dish with a line drive single to center, followed by Leyri Rivera walk to give the Eagles first and second with no one out. However, Post went 1-2-3 following the walk and the side was retired.Â
Denis escaped trouble once again in the second inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, Denis induced a ground ball to end the frame.Â
Pitt-Johnstown got on the board with two runs in the top of third inning but Post answered with three of their own in the bottom half of the frame when Demi Rivera smacked a three-run homer to put the Eagles up 3-2.Â
Pitt-Johnstown tied the game up at 3-3 in the top half of fourth with an RBI single off newly entered Eagles pitcher Brianna Koref.Â
The Eagles once again regained the lead in the bottom half of the fifth inning with an RBI groundout by Petrie, scoring Skylar Devorin.Â
The lead seesawed again in the top of the sixth when Johnstown singled in two runs on a two-out hit, making the score 5-4.Â
Post took control of the game in the bottom half of the sixth, scoring three runs on three hits. Brianna Rotunno, Cassidy Petrie and Leyri Rivera each contributed an RBI single to help give the Eagles a 7-5 lead heading into the last inning.Â
Samantha McErlane entered in the top half of the seventh for the Eagles and shut the door to help Post earn the win. McErlane allowed one walk in the inning and struck out the potential game-tying run to end the game.Â

- GAME 2 -Â
Bridget Betley got the start for Post in game two against Northwood University (3-5).Â
Betley started the game by throwing six straight scoreless innings, scattering two hits and four walks.Â
Betley's offense gave her a one run lead in the top half of the sixth when Bailee Zaccaro singled in Jazmin Andrews. Andrews pinch ran for Paige Delier who worked her way on base with a two-out walk and then took second base on a wild pitch.Â
Betley started off the bottom of the seventh by retiring the first two batters. After a two-out walk, Northwood doubled in a run to tie the game up at 1-1.Â
In the extra frame, Post took control immediately when Delier launched a two-run home run to left field.Â
Northwood strung together three hits in the bottom half of the eighth, including a game-tying RBI double down the right field line. An RBI single followed the game-tying double and Northwood walked off with a comeback win in extra innings.Â
Betley used 122 pitches in a complete game effort. She went 7.1 innings, allowing six hits and five walks. Betley struck out two and allowed two earned runs.Â

Next Up - The Eagles will be back again tomorrow for two more games. First, they will take on Winona State at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 2:00 p.m. game against Rockhurst University.Â
